The DD Council wants to make it easier for people with disabilities to be part of the political process. We want more people with disabilities to vote. We want everyone to know

TIPS FOR ASSISTING VOTERS WITH DISABILITIES
Precinct Election Officials, or poll workers, play an important role in ensuring elections run smoothly. Part of their duties are to assist voters with disabilities. Here are tips to help on election day.

Iowans with disabilities have an opportunity to make an impact in elections, and the DD Council is committed to providing the education and resources needed to build confidence and encourage participation.
Host a Voter Training
Host a voter training in your community. Voter trainings will provide you with a better understanding of the election process and your voting rights. You’ll also get hands-on experience using the new voting machines. Interested in setting up a voter training? Complete the voter training request form.
Apply for a Voter Empowerment Grant
Want to make an event of it? Grants are available to you or your organization to help offset the costs of hosting an event. Learn more.

HOW DOES AN ACCESSIBLE VOTING MACHINE WORK?
From the Iowa Secretary of State's website: Each polling place will have an accessible voting machine. There are 4 different machines approved in Iowa. County Auditors choose which machine they want to use.
