Many people with developmental disabilities are at a higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 (the coronavirus). The Iowa DD Council has put together resources through our #LookingForward campaign to help you better understand COVID-19 and the ways you can protect yourself and those in your community.
Join the conversation and share these resources on social media with the hashtag #LookingForward. Tell us what you're excited to start safely doing again. Let's help keep Iowans healthy. We’ve also developed a toolkit for providers and other organizations with shareable COVID-19 vaccine resources, video testimonials, social media content, and more. Keep #LookingForward to a Healthier Iowa With These COVID-19 Vaccine Resources
COVIDtests.gov is the place to order free at-home COVID-19 tests. Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order four free tests. Orders usually ship in 7-12 days.
Iowa Compass connects people with disabilities and complex health-related needs to services and supports in their communities throughout the state. If you'd like to talk to someone about the COVID-19 vaccine before you schedule your appointment, contact Iowa Compass.
211 Iowa helps individuals who have barriers to scheduling a vaccine or do not have internet access. You can call 211 for assistance if you are 65 and older or 64 and younger with underlying health conditions. A vaccine navigator will help with scheduling a vaccine appointment. This service is also available for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities as well as their caregivers.
