Hey Legislator! Do My Job Campaign
The Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council) and the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) are hosting the Hey Legislator! Do My Job campaign. We want to bring awareness that every Iowan should have meaningful employment opportunities in their community. This is your chance to tell your legislator(s) what you do at work and why it matters to you. You can also share any challenges that make it hard for you to do your job. The DD Council will share stories from this campaign throughout National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October.
Legislators are in their home districts now. This makes it the perfect time to invite them to your workplace to discuss the importance of having employment and the impact you have in your community.
Before you begin, ask yourself the following:
- Do I have good things to say about my job?
- Do I have things I want my legislator to know about my job?
If you answered
YES to these questions, please participate in the Hey Legislator! Do My Job campaign.
