October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). In recognition of NDEAM, the Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council (Iowa DD Council) and the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) are hosting the Take Your Legislator to Work campaign. We want to bring awareness that every Iowan should have meaningful employment opportunities in their community. This is your opportunity to tell your legislator(s) what you do at work and why it is important in your life.

Legislators are in their home districts now. This makes it the perfect time to invite them to your workplace to discuss the importance of having employment and the impact you have in your community. The Iowa DD Council will share stories from this campaign throughout National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October

Before you begin, ask yourself the following:

  1. Do I have good things to say about my job?
  2. Do I have things I want my legislator(s) to know about my job?

If you answered yes to these questions, please participate in the Take Your Legislator to Work campaign!
