The 2026 Iowa Legislative Session ended on May 3, 2026. Bills passed by the Iowa Legislature are listed in the "active" list. Those bills have been sent to the Governor for a signature.  All other bills have been moved to the "inactive" list.  These inactive bills will not become alive again in 2027. If you see something you like in that inactive list, you can always ask your legislator to sponsor it in 2027.

Most bills signed into law this year will go into effect on July 1, 2026.  If they have a different effective date, it will be listed in the bill summary.  The Governor has until June 3, 2026 to decide whether to sign a bill into law.
